Welcome to the Namethatband interactive music Trivia Game! Here are a number of rules and tips that will help you complete the game and possibly win a $50 gift certificate to Platterpus Records

1. The first thing you need, besides the obvious speakers and soundcard, is a copy of Realaudio in order to listen to the songs. You can download the latest version here.

2. There are 20 full length songs presented each month on the site. Most of these songs originate from 45s and LPs that are currently for sale on the Platterpus site. The contest starts during the first week of the month and ends on the last day of the month. Be sure not to cut it too close as you might be cut off.

3. You can save time by stopping a song if it is easy, answering and going on to the next one. Or perhaps if it is hard, it might come to you later on the contest. You don't have to listen to the songs all the way through. You can skip around, it is only when you hit the save button that there is no turning back. Also be sure to keep track of which song you are on. If you are unsure, look at the window of your realaudio player and this should show the number of the selection You must select an artist even if you are completely stumped. Just take a wild guess, as it can't hurt. Remember that all answers must be filled in. If you don't like what you heard this month, try again next month. The songs will be completely different each month.

4. You will be emailed the answers and results at the end of the contest each month. You can view the current results at anytime with the link above and also view the stats for the year. The Leader Board link shows how you are doing on a long term basis but you must participate in half of the available contests to show up here.

5. Whoever has the highest total at the end of the month will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Platterpus Records. You can only win this once every year and in the case of a repeat winner, the next participant in line will get the gift certificate. Previous winners are allowed and encouraged to win though as this will help your total in the Leader Board standings. Winner of the Leader Board after 12 contests will win a $100 gift certificate. Remember you are playing against everyone else in the contest so you don't have to get them all right to win. If you score half the possible points then you should have a good chance of winning. The winner of the 12-month contest must participate in at least 8 contests to be eligible. Whoever has the highest average after 12 months wins. A bonus of 10 points will be given to those who participate in at least 10 contests and a bonus of 30 points will be given to those who complete all 12 contests.
